Odesa Blackout: Major Russian Attack Leaves Over a Million in Darkness
A significant Russian attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure has led to comprehensive power outages in Odesa and surrounding regions. Over a million households across Ukraine are impacted, with a heavy focus on the southern areas. Water supplies have also been affected, highlighting the ongoing energy crisis caused by relentless strikes.
In a devastating escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine's southern port city of Odesa and its surrounding region faced massive power outages following a large-scale Russian attack on the power grid, affecting more than a million households.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported that over 450 drones and 30 missiles were used in the assault, primarily targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Odesa, alongside six other regions, was significantly affected, leaving thousands of families without power.
With electricity and water supplies disrupted, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko detailed that Odesa faced one of its worst assaults since the war began in 2022. The attack marks another chapter in Russia's continued strikes on critical Ukrainian energy and military-industrial facilities.
