The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is making waves in the energy sector by delivering zero electricity bills to over 7.7 lakh of the 24.35 lakh households benefiting from the scheme. Aimed at installing rooftop solar systems in one crore residences by FY 2026-27, the initiative was launched in February 2024 with a financial commitment of Rs 75,021 crore, the Parliament was informed.
The PM-KUSUM scheme further encourages farmers to adopt solar energy, earning them the title 'Urjadata'. Having crossed 20 lakh beneficiaries, the scheme allows farmers to lease land for solar plants, earning significant income and offering immense cost savings by replacing diesel pumps with solar versions.
Additionally, the National Green Hydrogen Mission showcases India's commitment to renewable energy by awarding significant incentive schemes. This includes a cumulative 3,000 MW annual manufacturing capacity for Electrolyser Manufacturing and 8,62,000 tonnes production capability for Green Hydrogen, furthering the nation's clean energy agenda.
