In a poignant ceremony marked by military solemnity, Vijay Diwas 2025 was commemorated at the Southern Command War Memorial in Pune on December 16. This year marks the 54th anniversary of India's decisive triumph in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, a victory that reshaped the subcontinent's geopolitical landscape.

The observance was led by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command. In a symbolic act of remembrance, he laid a wreath at the War Memorial, paying homage to the soldiers, airmen, and sailors who laid down their lives for the country's sovereignty and freedom. The ceremony was attended by both serving personnel and veterans from the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.

A tribute of silence was held, honoring the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice during the war. The event also saw the felicitation of veterans, including those who participated in the historic conflict, and 'Veer Naris,' or war widows, who embody fortitude and resilience. This gesture underscores the Indian Armed Forces' steadfast commitment to acknowledging the sacrifices of their members and preserving their enduring legacy.

The commemoration concluded with an interaction at the Southern Command Museum lawns, fostering a deep sense of camaraderie among soldiers, veterans, and families, unified by a collective heritage of service and bravery against adversity.
