Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Russian Oil Refinery
A Ukrainian drone's debris ignited a fire at the Slavyansk oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region, a vital energy hub. No casualties were reported at the refinery, but two injuries and damage to homes and power supplies occurred elsewhere. The attack aims to hinder Russia's military fuel supply and revenue.
Debris from a Ukrainian drone set a blaze at a processing facility and pipeline within a Russian oil refinery in the Krasnodar region overnight, local authorities reported on Wednesday.
While the Slavyansk refinery remained casualty-free, two individuals sustained injuries and several private residences experienced damage after drone debris impacted additional residential locales, according to the region's operational headquarters.
Krasnodar, situated on the Black Sea, plays a crucial role as an energy and export center for Russia. Ukraine's targeting of Russia's energy infrastructure seeks to disrupt military fuel supplies and reduce revenue streams that support Moscow's war efforts in Ukraine.
