A tragic accident occurred in Gujarat's Morbi district on Wednesday, where a speeding car struck a group of pilgrims, resulting in the loss of four lives and injuring one individual. The injured person has been hospitalized and is in a stable condition.
The affected pilgrims were reportedly participating in a yatra to the holy city of Dwarka. An unidentified vehicle crashed into them from behind at high speed, leading to the unfortunate fatalities. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Durlabhjibhai Dethariya visited the site, expressing sorrow over the incident.
Describing the grim occurrence, Dethariya stated, "Our pilgrims on their sacred journey to Dwarka were tragically hit by a vehicle from behind. The severity of the impact led to the death of four pilgrims, making what was intended as a spiritual journey turn into an 'Antim Yatra'." He emphasized the importance of ensuring accountability to prevent similar accidents in the future.
On the same day, another road mishap surfaced from Gujarat's Amreli district, involving a car crash into a tree, killing three and injuring one. Amreli Fire Incharge Officer S P Sartheja reported that emergency teams swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing four people. The survivor was transferred to the civil hospital, and the deceased were handed over for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered cases for both incidents and are conducting further investigations. Authorities are calling for increased accountability among drivers and officials to avert such tragedies in the future.
