In a heated move in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manish Tewari submitted an adjournment motion on Thursday to address the severe disruptions caused by IndiGo Airlines. Tewari emphasized the urgency, citing that thousands of passengers have been left stranded due to widespread cancellations and delays.
Tewari criticized IndiGo's failure to comply with new governmental pilot duty-time and rest-period regulations, which should have been implemented by January 2024. The Congress leader accused the airline of negligence and mismanagement, suggesting it might be a deliberate non-compliance act forcing regulatory rollback under pressure.
Moreover, Tewari pressed for an immediate government investigation, accountability from the airline, and full compensations for the passengers. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court skipped a fresh PIL regarding these cancellations, noting the issues are part of an ongoing writ petition, thus confirming continuation of procedural assessments against IndiGo.
