Epic Devotion at Prayagraj: Massive Crowds Gather for Magh Mela Holy Dip

A massive influx of devotees flocked to the Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj for a holy dip during the Magh Mela, coinciding with Ekadashi. Drones captured thousands braving the cold waters in an act of devotion. The second significant bathing ritual of the Mela, slated for Makar Sankranti, is anticipated to draw even larger numbers.
Having witnessed over 31 lakh devotees for the Paush Purnima snan, Prayagraj's administration is gearing up for Makar Sankranti on January 15. Security measures have been intensified with UP ATS deploying mobile patrol squads, complemented by nearly 10,000 police personnel, to ensure safety during the Mela. Surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras is also in effect.
SP Magh Mela Neeraj Pandey highlighted comprehensive safety protocols, announcing the deployment of 22 PAC units, 6 RAF contingents, and other civil police forces. Magh Mela Officer Rishi Raj cited 9 lakh devotees arriving by 6 AM, underscoring the massive attendance expected for the upcoming event. Meanwhile, significant celebrations are also underway in Ayodhya and West Bengal, with emphasis on security and elaborate preparations.
