In a bid to bolster security ahead of Republic Day, North District Police orchestrated a series of mock drills across North Delhi's crowded locales, testing the preparedness of various stakeholders and agencies. Throughout the first half of January 2026, authorities conducted four significant drill exercises at critical sites, including Red Fort and ISBT Kashmere Gate, known for high footfall and security concerns.

The mock drills aimed to strengthen anti-terror responses and increase public and agency vigilance during possible terror-related incidents. The initial drill on January 3 simulated a bomb blast at Red Fort, with coordinated responses from agencies such as CATS, DDMA, and Delhi Fire Service, showcasing their rapid response capabilities.

Subsequent drills included a simulated terrorist hijack at Delhi University Metro Station on January 7, a shooting scenario at ISBT Kashmere Gate on January 10, and another bomb blast remark at Khari Baoli on January 14. In each instance, law enforcement and emergency teams executed swift measures, including hostage rescues, neutralizing threats, and evacuating casualties, demonstrating readiness as Republic Day nears.
