The biting cold and thick fog gripping Gautam Buddha Nagar have compelled authorities to shut schools for younger students. Orders issued on Friday by District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar applied to institutions across all boards, from Nursery to Class 8. Teachers and staff, however, are expected to report as usual.
With temperatures dropping to around 6 degrees Celsius, conditions remain harsh, according to meteorological reports. Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, educational authorities extended winter vacations until January 17, 2026, for all government and private schools, citing ongoing severe weather.
The announcement by District Education Officer Rajan Jain follows earlier directives aimed at coping with the persistent cold. Educational leaders in both districts urge strict adherence to these measures to safeguard community wellbeing amidst the frosty spell. (ANI)
