Trump's Continental Ambition: The Greenland Proposition
President Donald Trump announced plans to discuss the acquisition of Greenland at the Davos World Economic Forum, citing Denmark's inability to sufficiently protect the territory. Trump expressed admiration for Denmark's leadership but emphasized the strategic importance of Greenland for the United States.
President Donald Trump revealed on Monday that the United States will discuss the possibility of acquiring Greenland during this week's Davos World Economic Forum, arguing that Denmark cannot adequately safeguard the territory.
Trump articulated a strong belief in the necessity of U.S. involvement, stating, "We have to have it. They have to have this done. They can't protect it, Denmark, they're wonderful people."
Speaking to reporters in Florida, Trump acknowledged the competence of Danish leaders, praising them as "very good people," but noted that they seldom visit Greenland themselves.
