The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, unveiled a groundbreaking online training initiative on Wednesday, which focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into medical education. Developed by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the program targets equipping 50,000 doctors nationwide with foundational AI skills.
The launch has already witnessed an overwhelming response with over 42,000 medical professionals registering, indicating the sector's demand for modernization. Minister Patel emphasized AI's role in transforming healthcare delivery from a reactive to a proactive approach, especially amid rising non-communicable diseases and persistent tuberculosis challenges.
NBEMS President Dr. Abhijat Sheth reaffirmed the board's dedication to advancing medical education through cutting-edge technology. Meanwhile, Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the initiative as a crucial step towards responsible technological adoption, aligning with India's digital health vision.
