Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked a pivotal moment for education in the state by inaugurating 67 cutting-edge school facilities and laying the groundwork for an additional 61 institutions. This extensive project, with a hefty investment of Rs. 760 crore, underscores a commitment to transforming educational environments to help students achieve greater academic milestones.

According to Sarma, earlier educational infrastructure often lacked planning, relying heavily on local donations and development funds from lawmakers. Such methods led to inefficiently designed structures. With a strategic vision adopted in 2021, the state government has rolled out a comprehensive plan to modernize and aesthetically enhance school buildings, fostering an environment conducive to quality learning.

In a bid to revolutionize schooling, the government is constructing new buildings for 1,318 schools across Assam. Utilizing funds from various schemes like PM-DevINE and the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, these campuses will feature modern facilities such as smart classrooms and extensive libraries. The initiative, according to Sarma, marks a 'new Assam' wherein determined efforts lead to tangible results. The introduction of an inclusive curriculum that integrates sports and music, alongside teacher recruitment, promises to further enrich the educational landscape.
