Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump for finalizing a historic trade agreement between India and the United States. The deal, which reduces tariffs on Indian exports to 18%, is viewed as a significant step in enhancing bilateral economic relations.

The agreement, celebrated by Gadkari on platform X, is seen as opening new avenues for growth and collaboration, potentially strengthening business confidence and setting the stage for increased trade and investment. This development follows previous tariffs of 50% imposed by Washington in August 2025.

President Trump announced the deal on his Truth Social platform, emphasizing its foundation on mutual friendship and respect with Prime Minister Modi. The US agrees to a lower reciprocal tariff, while India commits to reducing its barriers to American goods, alongside a pledge to significantly increase imports of US products.
