Tamil Nadu Governor Flags Concern Over University's Vice-Chancellor Appointment Process

The Governor's statement emphasizes that the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations require a nominee from the UGC Chairman on such committees, and non-compliance with these guidelines renders appointments 'void ab initio', according to the Supreme Court.

The Governor's office urges the Tamil Nadu government to amend the search committee compositions to include a UGC nominee or suspend proceedings until the Supreme Court resolves the dispute.
