Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a state-owned enterprise, announced on Wednesday its procurement of a major contract valued between Rs 1,200-1,500 crore from Hindalco Industries. The Letter of Intent (LOI) for this project, commissioned by Aditya Aluminium, a part of Hindalco, outlines a comprehensive scope of work in the energy sector.

The contract involves design, engineering, and manufacturing of a 2 x 150 megawatt Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) package. While civil work is excluded, the project includes supply, erection, commissioning, and a performance guarantee test at the Lapanga site in Odisha's Sambalpur district.

BHEL, operating under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, stands as one of India's largest engineering and manufacturing enterprises. Known for power, transmission, and renewables among other services, BHEL continues to solidify its global presence as a leading power equipment manufacturer.
