US Allows India to Refine and Market Russian Oil Amid West Asia Conflict

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the 30-day waiver, emphasizing that this is a short-term strategy to ease oil price pressures without benefiting the Russian government financially. Energy Secretary Chris Wright also highlighted the long-term abundance of oil supplies, yet stressed the need for quick market entry in the short run.

India, an essential partner of the United States, is expected to increase its purchases of US oil after the recent removal of punitive tariffs. This stop-gap measure is part of broader efforts to counter the impact of Iran's actions on global energy supplies, according to Bessent.
