The helicopter carrying Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) was forced to make an emergency landing in Srinagar on Sunday after encountering a technical glitch. Officials from the Pauri Police reported that the helicopter experienced 'some technical problems,' prompting a precautionary landing at the GVK helipad. Following the incident, Governor Singh was escort to the Police Guest House in Srinagar.
Further details on the helicopter's technical issues remain pending. On the same day, Governor Singh extended his well-wishes on International Women's Day during an address to ANI. He was attending the Himalayan O2 Tehri Lake Festival, a four-day event inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on March 6.
'It is truly a matter of immense joy, happiness, and jubilation that today, a four-day program took place in Tehri Garhwal, sending a message to the entire world,' Singh declared. 'The title itself is so beautiful: Himalayan O2 2026. Fifteen competitions were held, and over four thousand contestants participated. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to women across the world on International Women's Day. To be honest, the women of Uttarakhand, the women's power, our daughters, are unique in the entire world.' He also highlighted the environmental message delivered by the festival, which features activities like adventure sports and tourism events, continuing until March 9.
