Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has leveled strong accusations against the AAP-led Punjab government, claiming it is misleading its citizens through the newly announced Rs 1000 monthly transfer scheme for women. Bittu asserts that this scheme is merely a guise and advocates for a 'double engine' government in Punjab.
Speaking at a press conference, Bittu highlighted perceived inconsistencies in the government's promises, raising doubts over the state's financial health and questioning the extent of actual developmental work executed in recent years. He pointed out past critiques from Aam Aadmi Party leaders about unmet election pledges, suggesting a current 'dire' situation.
The remarks follow Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's announcement of the 'Mukh Mantri Mavan Dhiyan da Satkar Scheme,' offering monetary benefits to women across different categories. Mann defended the budget, presented on International Women's Day, portraying it as an 'affidavit of progress' focused on education, sports, and women-centric policies. He countered opposition claims about fiscal mismanagement, detailing government investments in health, infrastructure, and social amenities as evidence of effective financial planning.
