In countless Indian homes, as dawn breaks, many women begin their day juggling both office and household duties, often in silence. On this International Women's Day, a new initiative promises to amplify their voices. Launched by the National Commission for Women (NCW), Mahila Jan Sunwai is set to revolutionize how women access justice.
Running from March 8 to 14, the nationwide program aims to address and resolve over 15,000 registered complaints in 500 districts across 25 States and Union Territories. It's a strategic effort to reach women in remote areas, eliminating barriers like travel costs and bureaucratic challenges that often prevent them from seeking justice.
Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasized the shift in dynamics by bringing institutions to the women, not the other way around. With collaborative efforts from local authorities and State Women's Commissions, the program not only seeks to resolve grievances but also aims to build trust within communities, fostering an environment where women are encouraged to speak out.
