Miraculous Escape: Explosive Drama in Queens
A huge explosion at a Queens house injured eight police officers responding to a call about a man with a knife. Despite the major blast, which knocked officers off their feet, all occupants were accounted for. The suspect remains unaccounted for, and neighboring homes were also damaged.
An early morning explosion shook a Queens neighborhood, injuring eight responding police officers and destroying a home. The officers were responding to a call of a man armed with a knife when the massive blast threw them into the air. Despite the intensity, all people inside were accounted for.
Police body camera footage captures the dramatic moment officers were blown back as they approached the house. Visible debris and smoke filled the air as the officers checked on their colleagues' safety amid the chaos. They later helped evacuate two young children and other individuals from the home.
Assistant Chief Christopher McIntosh praised the officers’ fortune, stating it could have ended much worse. The suspect, who remains missing, arrived intoxicated, carrying a knife, and bags with unknown substances, leading to the violent incident. Nearby homes also suffered damage from the explosion.
