The escalating hostilities in the Gulf region have prompted CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar to introduce an adjournment motion in the Rajya Sabha. Kumar highlights the severe security and humanitarian challenges that have arisen, impacting air travel and daily life, and raising concerns for the Indian expatriate community's safety.
Kumar elaborates that the Gulf's significant Indian diaspora, comprising workers, professionals, and their families, is enduring uncertainty and anxiety amid disruptions. He emphasizes the necessity for the Indian government to undertake diplomatic measures due to the region's strategic economic significance to India.
Further, Kumar demands transparency concerning the US's temporary waiver on Russian oil imports, stressing India's right to independently manage its energy policies. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to address the situation in the Lok Sabha, coinciding with heightened international focus following recent geopolitical developments.
