The External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar, provided key insights into India-Iran relations amid growing tensions in West Asia. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Jaishankar revealed that Iran expressed gratitude towards India for permitting the docking of the Iranian naval vessel, IRIS LAVAN, at Kochi. This cooperative gesture occurred despite complexities in diplomatic communications due to the ongoing regional strife.

Following the sinking of Iranian warship IRIS Dena by a U.S. submarine, Jaishankar addressed the pressing concerns over India's energy security. He assured that the government is taking calculated measures to balance the availability, cost, and risk factors in the energy market, with a priority on safeguarding Indian consumer interests during these tumultuous times.

In his address, Jaishankar emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's active engagement with leaders across West Asia, liaising with counterparts from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and more. Concurrently, the Indian government is engaging its regional embassies in active advisories and has facilitated the relocation of citizens from crisis-hit areas, ensuring the safe passage of approximately 67,000 nationals back to India.
