The administration of Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has ordered oil and gas companies to prioritize fuel for government vehicles involved in essential services, amid a potential crisis due to the Middle East conflict. Officials highlighted concerns on Monday, given the recent reductions in oil production by Iraq, Kuwait, and the UAE, alongside a slew of regional attacks on oil and gas installations involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Crude oil prices skyrocketed by over 26 percent to a record high of ₹10,549 per barrel. In a letter dated March 5, the district supply officer instructed retail sales officers from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd to hold reserves of petrol and diesel exclusively for government services at taluka and district levels.
With the situation remaining volatile and unpredictable, authorities are taking proactive measures to prevent disruptions in the supply chain of petroleum products essential for emergency services, underscoring the critical nature of maintaining uninterrupted government operations.
