Uttarakhand's Leap Towards Development: Road Repairs and Ropeway Projects Accelerate Growth

Under CM Pushkar Singh Dhami's leadership, Uttarakhand has constructed or reconstructed 819 Panchayat buildings and repaired over 7,000 km of roads. Ropeway projects at major temples are advancing, while Governor Gurmit Singh highlights efforts in governance, infrastructure, and youth employment at the state's Budget Session.

In the span of four years during Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's second term, Uttarakhand has witnessed significant infrastructural developments. According to Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj, 819 Panchayat buildings have been constructed or reconstructed. This effort comes after CM Dhami's directive to rebuild deteriorating structures through a special campaign, which remains ongoing for the remaining buildings.

Meanwhile, the Public Works Department has transformed more than 7,000 kilometers of roads to be pothole-free by early November. As presented in the Assembly, under strict instructions from CM Dhami, 3,134 km were repaired before the monsoons in 2025-26, and an additional 4,149.17 km post-monsoon by November 10, 2025. Haridwar district alone accounted for the repair of over 313 km of roads.

In parallel, ropeway connectivity to major pilgrimage sites is progressing under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The ropeway linking Kaddukhal to Surkanda Devi has commenced operations, while construction continues on the Thuligad to Purnagiri Temple ropeway. Projects from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri and from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, as well as from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, are underway.

The Budget Session of the State Legislative Assembly, initiated by Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), outlined numerous initiatives. Governor Singh emphasized transparently enhancing infrastructure, expanding digital services, and boosting public participation. He also mentioned state schemes planned for increasing employment, empowering women, raising farmers' income, and attracting both tourism and investment.
