Congress Slams Government Over LPG Shortage Amid West Asia Conflict

The Congress has sharply criticized the Union Government over a purported shortage of LPG gas amid West Asia's conflict. They accuse the government of unnecessary actions and demand a comprehensive discussion in Parliament. The Congress Party has launched a fierce attack on the Union Government, accusing it of mishandling the alleged LPG gas shortage arising from the West Asia conflict. Congress MP Manish Tewari dismissed the invocation of the Essential Commodities Act as excessive and urged a comprehensive parliamentary debate on the crisis.

Referring to fluctuating crude oil prices, Tewari contended that surcharges and rationing measures were overreactions triggered by panic. Congress MP Jyothimani highlighted issues in Tamil Nadu, where residents, hotels, and small businesses suffer due to delayed LPG supplies amid ongoing political priorities.

MP Sukhdeo Bhagat called for intense discussions on the West Asia conflict's repercussions on imports and energy security. EAM Jaishankar reassured Parliament that peace in West Asia is crucial due to significant Indian interests and energy dependencies, offering diplomatic support to mitigate impacts on Indian communities in the region.
