TMC MP Accuses Election Commission of Bias Amidst Bengal Poll Preparations

Trinamool Congress MP Partha Bhowmick launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India, accusing it of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party. In remarks directed at reporters, Bhowmick described the Commission as an 'agent' of the BJP, likening its office to an extension of the ruling party. He emphasized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's strong public support, dubbing her the true choice of Bengal's common people.

Bhowmick underscored that the power to vote lies with ordinary citizens rather than officials, and vowed that the TMC would adhere to Banerjee's vision to win popular support. He mocked BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, predicting his electoral defeat in Bhawanipore, reinforcing Mamata's political stature.

The Election Commission has announced Bengal's Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases, on April 23 and April 29, with counting on May 4. The first phase will cover 152 constituencies with a nomination deadline of April 6, while the second phase includes 142 constituencies with an April 9 nomination cutoff.
