In a significant development, the Patiala House Court on Friday approved anticipatory bail for Manish Sharma, a pivotal figure in the AI Summit protest case. Sharma is expected to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, with directives to report tomorrow.
The court instructed Delhi police to provide a seven-day notice should they decide to proceed with his arrest. This decision comes amid claims portraying Sharma as a central conspirator behind the contentious protest held at the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam on February 20.
During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General DP Singh, alongside Additional Public Prosecutors Atul Shrivastav and Prashant Prakash, voiced strong opposition to the bail. They contended that as the Indian Youth Congress leader, Sharma orchestrated the protest that marred the international event attended by foreign dignitaries.
