On Friday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected Haldwani's event site ahead of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's scheduled visit on Saturday. Accompanied by local officials, Dhami also participated in a review meeting at Haldwani's Circuit House to gauge preparations.

In a parallel development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a two-day National Defence Industrial Conclave in Delhi on Thursday, urging innovators and MSMEs to bolster efforts towards achieving self-reliance in the defence sector. Singh emphasized the necessity for India to become autonomous in drone technology, amidst geopolitical tensions involving Russia-Ukraine and Iran-Israel, which spotlight the growing importance of drones and counter-drone measures.

Addressing the challenges posed by China's dominance in critical drone components, Singh stressed the importance of indigenous manufacturing capabilities. This message resonated alongside the launch of the 14th edition of the Defence India Startup Challenge, aimed at inspiring over 100 new challenges sourced from Defence Public Sector Undertakings to drive innovation.
