Major Police Shake-up in Tamil Nadu Ahead of Elections

In a strategic move to bolster election preparedness, the Election Commission of India appointed Sandeep Rai Rathore as the new Director-General of Police for Tamil Nadu. Rathore replaces G. Venkataraman in a shift mandated for immediate implementation by the Tamil Nadu government. The Election Commission has specifically instructed that the transferred officer must not hold any election-related positions until the completion of the electoral process.

The commission also orchestrated the transfer of four Indian Police Service officers across Tamil Nadu, further solidifying the state's administrative structure ahead of the polls scheduled on April 23.
