The Atal Pension Yojana (APY), India's flagship social security program, has achieved an impressive total gross enrolment of 9 crore subscribers.
In the 2025–26 fiscal year alone, it recorded 1.35 crore new enrollments, setting a new benchmark as the highest in a single year as per the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
Launched in May 2015, APY is aimed at providing universal social security, particularly for the underprivileged and workers in the unorganized sector, with sustained government and financial institutions' collaboration ensuring its expansive reach.
