A series of fires erupted across India this weekend, putting emergency response teams to the test. In Ahmedabad, a blaze engulfed a plastic pellets factory early Sunday morning in Chhapra Extension of Sanjay Nagar, Bapunagar Extension area. Thanks to the rapid deployment of fire tenders from the Gomtipur Fire Station, the fire was swiftly brought under control without any reported casualties, said Additional Chief Fire Officer Mihir Rana.

In an unrelated incident in Uttar Pradesh, flames consumed an oil extraction plant processing old tyres in Sambhal district's Chandausi area. Krishna Kant Ojha, Fire Station Officer, stated that the fire department acted decisively, dispatching multiple fire tenders immediately upon receiving the alert. The situation is now under control, and an investigation aims to uncover the fire's origin.

Meanwhile, in Odisha's Khordha district, an inferno scorched sections of Chilika Lake's dry Phragmites patches on Saturday. Collaborative efforts from wildlife and firefighting teams from Khordha and Puri districts successfully subdued the wildfire after several hours. Amlan Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer for the Chilika Wildlife Division, indicated that while the exact cause remains unknown, human interference likely played a role in the flame's ignition. The incident underscores prevalent risks in regions with dry vegetation. (ANI)
