The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a significant 30-hour water supply shutdown affecting several Mumbai areas between May 5 and May 6, 2026. This scheduled interruption is essential for carrying out crucial connections and maintenance on the city's Water Supply Project.
The operation will involve the commissioning of a water tunnel linking Amar Mahal (Hedgewar Udyan) to Wadala (Pratiksha Nagar), Paral (AMT-1), Trombay Reservoir (AMT-2), and Turbhe High-Level Reservoir. Part of the project includes connecting an 1800 mm water channel supplying the Turbhe High-Level Reservoir to an existing line of similar size.
The BMC has notified residents of specific districts, emphasizing the importance of storing sufficient water in advance and using it judiciously during the shutdown. Areas like F North Division, M West Division, and N Division will be affected, with some experiencing a complete water cut and others facing low pressure.
