A lightning strike tragically claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy and injured a 14-year-old girl in Bani tehsil of Kathua district, officials confirmed late Wednesday evening. The bolt reportedly blasted through a window, hitting the children inside their home.
Tulsi Ram's home in Khloran, where he has lived for a decade after moving from Bhandar, was struck by lightning around 5:47 pm. The lightning forcefully entered through a window, injuring two children present in the room.
Arjun Singh, a primary school fifth-grader, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the Community Health Centre Bani, where he was declared dead. Sapna Devi, a sixth-grade student also injured in the incident, has been reported to be stable and out of danger.
The tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief over the community, with locals deeply shocked by the sudden loss. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and adopt safety measures during adverse weather conditions to prevent such tragedies.
