The Department of Commerce has issued a new notification, No. 15/2026-27, as of April 30, 2026, revising schedules under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme. According to the press release, the updates apply to Appendix 4R for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) exports and Appendix 4RE for exports by Advance Authorisation, Export Oriented Units, and Special Economic Zone units. These changes align with the amendments made under the Customs Tariff Act's First Schedule through the Finance Act, 2026.

The notification details technical adjustments in the RoDTEP tariff lines to conform with the updated Customs tariff structure. The revision encompasses 194 tariff lines, including the inclusion of 142 new 8-digit tariff lines, the removal of 50 tariff lines, and modifications in the descriptions of two tariff lines within the RoDTEP schedules. These updated schedules are set to facilitate the seamless implementation of RoDTEP benefits in the Customs Automated System starting May 1, 2026.

This alignment aims to cut down on classification-related ambiguities and ensure consistency between the Customs tariff entries and the RoDTEP schedules, thereby smoothing the processing of eligible export claims. The measure, specifically targeted to improve the RoDTEP scheme, intends to enhance the ease of doing business for exporters by ensuring the timely convergence of compliance frameworks, reducing system-level inconsistencies, and maintaining the continuity of duty, tax, and levy remissions on exported products.
