Following a tragic incident where a hospital wall collapsed in Bengaluru, claiming seven lives, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has urged swift preventive steps. The calamity, resulting from severe rain and a hailstorm, has prompted directives for the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) to proactively identify and address such hazards.

In his communication with officials, Shivakumar stressed the necessity of removing trees and branches at risk of falling, to avert potential risks to the public. He also advised that law enforcement and fire services be involved in these clearance operations if required.

Additional priority has been given to conducting structural assessments to preempt further disasters, with the BDA instructed to form zone-specific teams for this purpose.
