NABARD's 'JIVA' Project: Transforming Jharkhand's Agriculture Landscape

In Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, over 250 farmers have adopted agroecology-based farming through NABARD's tribal development program. This shift has reduced input costs, diversified crops, and improved incomes. The 'JIVA' project promotes sustainable practices, helping farmers become self-reliant while addressing environmental issues and enhancing community leadership.

More than 250 farmers in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district have switched to agroecology-based farming under NABARD's tribal development initiative, officials revealed. This transition has notably decreased input costs, diversified crop options, and increased farmer incomes, marking a significant breakthrough in sustainable agriculture.

Devalal Munda, a beneficiary from Kori village, cited reduced costs and boosted income thanks to organic fertiliser 'Jeevamrut'. Similar successes have been echoed by farmers like Prem Bedia and Ramkumar Oraon, who have seen substantial profits and improved soil health due to poly-cropping practices supported by the program.

NABARD's 'JIVA' project, along with TDP and FPO efforts, is now aiding over 2,000 households, fostering agro-ecological balance for comprehensive rural transformation. This initiative showcases sustainable agriculture's potential to enhance incomes, confidence, and leadership among farmers, as per NABARD officials.
