Construction has commenced on the Rs 119-crore lift irrigation project in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, inaugurated by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The scheme will irrigate over 4,930 hectares across 13 villages, utilizing advanced tech to enhance water-use efficiency and agricultural output.

Mainly funded by the Centre's SAMRIDHI-M-CAD scheme, the Bagia Samriddhi M-CAD project employs a modern underground pressurized pipeline network to eliminate water wastage, boost efficiency, and skip traditional land acquisition processes. Farmers will benefit from year-round irrigation, transitioning from rain dependence.

The project, expected to conclude in six months, incorporates technologies like solar power, SCADA, and IoT, aiming to optimize water management, increase crop yields, and bolster farmer incomes amid climate challenges, officials said. This model could set a national standard for modern irrigation systems.
