Landslide Blocks Doda-Kishtwar Road; Bridge Collapse Claims Lives in Jammu

A significant landslide has blocked the Doda-Kishtwar road in Jammu and Kashmir, while a bridge collapse in Jammu's Bantalab area has tragically resulted in three fatalities. A catastrophic landslide near Gatsoo in Doda district has severed the crucial Doda-Kishtwar road, prompting authorities to launch clearance operations and issue stringent travel advisories. Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police confirmed the landslide hit early morning, bringing movement along the vital road to a standstill. "Efforts to clear the blockade are underway, but commuters should refrain from traveling until further notice," the advisory stated, assuring public safety is a priority. No casualties were reported in this incident.

In a separate tragedy, an under-construction bridge in Jammu's Bantalab area collapsed, resulting in the deaths of three laborers. Rescue teams quickly responded, pulling out a sole survivor. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed profound sorrow, announcing stringent measures including official suspensions and an ongoing inquiry into the incident.
