The Madhya Pradesh government has provided significant relief to the state's farmers by extending the wheat procurement slot booking deadline for the Rabi marketing season 2026-27 to May 23. This extension, announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, ensures that all cultivators have the opportunity to benefit from the support price scheme.
As of May 2, the state has procured 34.73 metric tonnes of wheat, with a substantial Rs 600 crore allocated under the Price Support Scheme for 2026. The procurement windows for chickpea and lentils are set from March 30 to May 28, with targets set at 6.49 lakh MT and 6.01 lakh MT respectively, alongside a pigeon pea proposal submitted to the Centre.
Key measures include direct payment transfers to farmers and the enhancement of storage capacities, with 3.55 lakh MT under the Foodgrain Storage Scheme and new warehouse projects under the Material Storage Scheme. Through e-Kisan, farmers now receive vital information on schemes and technical guidance, while initiatives like the Kisan Registry and agricultural drones reinforce Madhya Pradesh's pioneering role in natural and digital farming.
