The body of a 14-year-old student was discovered dead in the jungle near Bhatti Mines, Delhi, on Wednesday. This grim discovery has prompted police to spring into action, launching a rigorous investigation into what is being initially reported as a case of strangulation, according to officials.

Meanwhile, in a separate but equally tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh, a 7-year-old child was found dead in a maize field as of Tuesday. Assistant Superintendent of Police, East Hardoi, Subodh Gautam, confirmed the child's disappearance had been reported on May 2, 2026, and the body was unearthed three days later, on May 5.

A complaint had been filed at the Mallawan police station concerning the child's disappearance, leading to a case being registered and two special teams assembled for the investigation. The body, after its discovery, was sent for a post-mortem, while evidence was collected at the scene by forensic teams. In a separate incident, four children drowned in the Ganga River at Shivrampur Ghat while taking selfies, district authorities reported.
