In a significant breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended a suspect with a Rs 50,000 bounty following a dramatic encounter near Devarniya Bridge in Shravasti. The accused, involved in robbery and murder cases, confronted law enforcement, leading to exchange of gunfire, as confirmed by SP Rahul Bhati.
The confrontation unfolded when police, acting on intelligence, surrounded the suspect who retaliated by opening fire. The altercation concluded with the accused sustaining a leg injury. The injured suspect received treatment at CHC Malhipur before his imminent arrest and processing for legal proceedings. Meanwhile, investigations continue to uncover further details.
In a separate, tragic incident, the body of a 7-year-old boy, missing since May 2, 2026, was discovered on May 5, in a maize field in Hardoi, UP. ASP Subodh Gautam reported that an abduction case had been lodged, prompting police to form teams for investigation. Evidence was collected at the scene, and the child's body sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
