Andhra Pradesh Tackles Gunny Bag Scarcity Amid Record Paddy Procurement
Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar announced discussions with the Centre to address the recurring gunny bag shortage during paddy procurement. The state achieved record procurement this Rabi season, benefiting farmers with boiled rice permissions. Initiatives against irregular LPG distribution and maintaining fuel stocks were also emphasized.

The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, is set to engage in talks with the Central government to resolve the persistent shortage of gunny bags during paddy procurement seasons. This move comes as the state reports a record-high procurement in the current Rabi season.
Minister Manohar highlighted that permissions from the Centre to procure boiled rice have significantly benefited farmers cultivating Bondalu paddy. The state procured 19.7 lakh tonnes of paddy so far, setting a target of 27 lakh tonnes, marking an 18% increase from the previous year.
Efforts are also underway to monitor LPG supply and ensure timely delivery, addressing irregular distribution practices. The administration maintains adequate fuel stocks and engages with oil companies to prevent supply disruptions, ensuring a seamless operation across Andhra Pradesh.
