Vietnam's Plea: Navigating Oil Blockades and Energy Crisis

Vietnam's state oil company urges the U.S. Navy to allow a crude oil tanker carrying Iraqi oil to bypass a naval blockade in the Middle East, as it is crucial for the Nghi Son Refinery. The blockade is part of measures against Iran, disrupting global energy supplies.

The trading arm of Vietnam's state oil company recently made a formidable plea to the U.S. Navy, requesting passage for a crude oil tanker through its Middle Eastern blockade. The vessel, Agio Fanourios I, holds two million barrels of Iraqi oil vital to Vietnam's energy needs.

The situation arises as U.S.-Israeli tensions with Iran escalate, resulting in increased naval enforcement and impacting global energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic waterway witnessed a closure, leaving countless ships stranded.

Petrovietnam Oil Corporation, through Vice President Hoang Dinh Tung, emphasized the dire consequences a delay could have on Vietnam's economy and public sectors, appealing to U.S. military and diplomatic channels for resolution.
