The Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Minister, K Atchannaidu, has taken a firm stance against shrimp feed manufacturers who sought to implement a unilateral price increase. This move, deemed burdensome to the state's aquaculture farmers, was met with governmental disapproval, resulting in a suspension of the proposed hike.

During a video conference, Minister Atchannaidu asserted that the coalition government prioritizes the protection of farmers' interests. He emphasized that any decision affecting aquaculture farmers requires their input and warned against imposing additional financial pressures.

A collective meeting is set for May 15, bringing together farmers, feed company representatives, and officials to find a mutually beneficial resolution. This aims to secure farmers' livelihoods while sustaining the aquaculture industry amid rising raw material costs.
