UAE's Strategic Pipeline Expansion: Bypassing the Strait of Hormuz

The UAE plans to double its oil export capacity by 2027 through a new pipeline in Fujairah, bypassing the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The fast-tracked project aims to mitigate risks and stabilize energy supply amid rising global tensions and energy price surges due to supply disruptions.

The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to expedite the construction of a new oil pipeline that will significantly increase export capacity via Fujairah by 2027, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

This development will allow the UAE to bypass the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, enhancing its direct export capabilities from the Gulf of Oman coast. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed has ordered the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to prioritize the completion of the West-East Pipeline project.

The disruption in global oil supply due to geopolitical tensions has caused energy prices to soar, pushing governments to consider fuel rationing and raising alarms about potential economic downturns influenced by inflationary pressures.
