In a strategic move to bolster the power infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, the cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has greenlit projects worth Rs 93 crore for Srinagar. These initiatives are specifically designed to boost transmission capacity and minimize power interruptions.

A pivotal project involves the enhancement of the Zainakote Grid Sub Station, increasing its capacity from 450 MVA to 780 MVA at a substantial cost of Rs 67.66 crore. This development, part of the recent cabinet approvals, aims to create a more reliable electricity supply system.

Moreover, the upgradation of the 132 KV Pampore-Rawalpora and Rawalpora-Bemina transmission lines has been endorsed, demanding an investment of Rs 25.47 crore. Once completed, these projects are expected to significantly stabilize the grid and accommodate the escalating power demand during peak periods in the region.
