Gadkari Threat Call Case: Nagpur Court Sentences Two in Extortion Plot

A special court in Nagpur has sentenced two individuals, Jayesh Pujari and Afsar Pasha, in connection to a threat call and extortion scheme targeting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The case, registered at Dhantoli Police Station, was adjudicated by Additional Sessions Judge Anilkumar K Sharma.
Prosecutors detailed how the accused allegedly orchestrated threatening calls from Hindalga Central Prison demanding extortion amounts of Rs 100 crore and Rs 10 crore from Gadkari's office. The threatening calls included bomb blast threats if the demands were unmet.
During the investigation, multiple SIM cards and mobile numbers linked to the crime were traced back to inside the prison. Police uncovered electronic evidence and alleged affiliations with outlawed entities like Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and the D-Gang network. Both men received imprisonment sentences under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
