Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner, Santanu Sinha Biswas, has finally appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning ongoing investigations into alleged land grabbing and extortion activities.
Suspicions were raised due to his connections and past role as officer-in-charge of Kalighat Police Station, with ties to former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Biswas had repeatedly dodged past summons until the issuance of a circular preventing him from leaving the country.
The investigation also implicates businessman 'Sona Pappu' from Golpark and has broadened following new evidence unearthed from Joy Kamdar’s arrest. The ED intensifies efforts to gather more insights and continue its probe.
