Rajya Sabha MP Sudhakar Singh and several co-petitioners have approached the Supreme Court, requesting a directive to transition the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) [NEET-UG] to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. This appeal comes in the wake of a significant exam paper leak, insisting that the examination, scheduled for June 21, requires immediate reform to enhance security.
The petition, jointly filed with public figures including Anubhav Garg and Dr Dhruv Chauhan, argues for the establishment of a new National Examination Authority to replace the current National Testing Agency. The petitioners emphasize the necessity for a professionally regulated body, equipped with advanced technological measures to safeguard the credibility of national assessments.
Among the petition's demands is the implementation of advanced cybersecurity and AI-based surveillance systems to counteract cheating. It also calls for the strict criminal prosecution of those implicated in examination leaks and enhanced examination protocols to ensure the integrity of future assessments is maintained.
