Haryana Cracks Down on Sex Ratio Improvement Failures: Officers Suspended

In a decisive move, the Haryana government has suspended four medical officers over their alleged failure to improve the state's sex ratio. Among the suspended are Dr Tina Anand and three other officers, who have been accused of poor performance and inadequate monitoring of measures aimed at gender balance.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Sumita Misra issued the suspension orders, signifying a no-tolerance approach towards inefficiency. The officers will remain attached to Civil Surgeons' offices across various districts, as they undergo disciplinary proceedings under established state service rules.

This action comes as a part of the state's aggressive campaign to curb illegal sex determination practices and promote gender equality. Misra emphasized the need for stricter enforcement and increased surveillance to ensure compliance with the PC&PNDT Act and other relevant laws.
